Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will no longer be able to perform at the Blank Canvas event in Liverpool in November. I have also taken the decision not to perform for the rest of the year. I hope in this time to record my first album as Stereocilia, which I will keep you posted about here until the new website is up and running

A video was filmed of my final performance as FMG, at the Post Modern Art Gallery. It can be viewed here

My musical direction since returning to my solo project has taken my far away from the point of FMG's original inception. gone are the walls of noise, distorted beats and wailing feedback. A more melodic, structured, ambient side has crept in, and I believe a change in name is needed for this new direction, which is something I have been thinking about for a long time. I have finally settled on the name, Stereocilia. The name was chosen whilst researching about my tinnitus which developed early this year after taking a course of antibiotics, and more likely than not, the punishment my ears have taken over the years. I am currently putting together a new website, and have a gig booked for November under my new pseudonym.

I still have two more releases in the pipeline under the name FMG, one for Omcore, and the other a Bang the Bore. Both will be free releases which I will post about in the future.

I was lucky enough to perform at this weekends performance of Rhys Chatham's, A Crimson Grail at Liverpool Cathedral. The performance was to a packed out crowd, and the sound  inside was incredible. It was a pleasure working everyone, and Rhys is one of the nicest  guys you'll ever meet. certainly a week I will never forget. A review can be found here, and a video of the performance can be found here. The back of my head can be seen at the 31 second mark. Hopefully it will be being released in 5.1 surround sound, which is something that needs to be heard.

Here's a link to all the guitarist involved (Starts with me, shaky and smug)

I have had two amazing gig offers in the last week, unfortunately I had to turn down the chance to play with the legend that is Damo Suzuki. It would've been an honor to share a stage with him, but due to timing I am unable to get to Holland in time to perform with him.

I have however been selected to play alongside Rhys Chatham, for the UK premier of his piece 'A Crimson Grail' for 100 guitars. This will be taking place at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral on the 14th September. Its free entry so do come along. Link here

I will be looking for gigs between the 11-15th September whilst up North so if you are interested do get in contact. f.m.g[AT]hotmail.co.uk

Had a great time playing a live set over at the V22 summer club radio show in Bermondsey last night. Thanks to Clair and James for putting me on, and thanks to the engineers too. I believe the show will be repeated randomly with the rest of the shows that have been broadcast, so if you missed it, you can still check it out here. I recommend getting down to the Summer Club before it finishes too. Some great stuff still to come, and possibly the best record shop ever?

I spent last night recording some new material that i'm hoping to put out in the next couple of months. I've gone back to my trusty old four track. I find its eaiser to focus on the music, rather than getting distracted by all the bells and whistles a DAW has to offer. I'll wait until the mastering stage before I let those distractions kick in.

In the rush to get ready for the gig yesterday, I forgot to update the website with the new release. "Waiting Period", is a two track, 19 minute release on my own Moist lips Records in-print. Two editions, a free digital download or cassette edition with the download over at the bandcamp page.

After 16 months on inactivity, I have decided to start putting out music as FMG again. I’ve not been completely idle in that time, for the past two years I have been playing bass with London based band, The Sailplanes. We have a new release coming out soon.

I will make my first live appearance of the year at the AMNERTIAC ENERGY SURGE FESTIVAL at Power Lunches, London.  The festival is hosted by Transient Constellations and you can purchase tickets HERE.

For the show I will have a new limited cassette release, as well as some other goodies I’ve had stashed away.

More updates to follow.
